Transformation from salaried 'Employee' to becoming a 'Founder'

There is always this debate as to how can any individual really transform himself or herself into a new avatar after leaving their job

This is a complete mindset change that one has to get through!

Here are my 10 thoughts:

You need to come out of the entitlement mindset

As a salaried person, we are always driven by what our job entitlements are however as a founder, we are concerned with making ends meet

Everything begins with you 

As a founder, there’s no one to come and give instructions to you and thus the buck stops at you

Coming out of fixed remuneration on a specific date

This is easier said than done. While we may always envisage that we can sell our talent and get the fixed income however everything may not exactly fall the way you may have planned

Support from your family 

There have been times when the family starts discouraging the idea when they see short term rejections. Aligning all the internal stakeholders is of great importance

Keeping instant gratification at a distance

From balancing our time and energy in going out, meeting friends, weekends watching movies, etc to getting into the role of a Founder will require you to manage your time and money in a lot more judicious manner

Savings to sustain you

The importance of this gets a bit underrated at times. It is extremely important for you to have enough to sustain your lifestyle up to a point that your proposed venture starts to generate cash flows.

Being a continuous learner 

The world is faster than what we can imagine and hence it is important that you keep upgrading yourself in tune with the times.

Embrace technology 

There invariably will be a lot of things that can give you goosebumps however what’s important is to take a deep breath and slow down on the same.

Keep hierarchies at bay

As a salaried person, one also carries the designation all the time however as a founder - you have to be lot more grounded and end up doing things that you may have not anticipated
