Tesla’s internal employee handbook has been leaked, and it’s unlike other onboarding manuals you’ve seen.

For a start, it’s only four pages, and begins with: “We’re Tesla. We’re changing the world. We’re willing to rethink everything.”

The document contains no rules or policies. These only tell you “how poorly you can perform before you’re shown the door”. Instead, Tesla expects you to be totally self-reliant, performing at very high standards and with integrity “even when no one is looking.”

“Moral of the story”: be the sort of worker you would wish to have around in your own team, and treat others as you would like to be treated. Tesla must be a place where people look forward to coming to each day. Life is too short for anything else.
