First up: Why pay raise is the easiest way to increase income 👇

1. You don’t start from scratch

An extra client is an extra burden. You have to understand their work and expectations before delivering results.

But with your current client, the momentum already exists.

2. You don’t keep searching

If you want more money and don’t negotiate your price, you’ll always need more clients.

Prospecting will take away time and energy from your main work.

But if you negotiate, you make more money without prospecting or adding workload.

The best way to negotiate your price:

1. Get industry standards data

Without collecting data, you can’t negotiate.

Find how much freelancers earn in your country.

If it shows you’re:

• underpaid -> initiate negotiation.

• overpaid -> just enjoy the money :)

2. Give your clients an option to say “NO”

This saves your relationship when they don't want to increase price.

You can say: “Hey, I want to discuss my price, and I’m fine if you say no, but please hear me out.

This will rule out the negative outcomes.

3. Use mirroring

Put across your data. Then listen to your clients.

Mirror their last few words and get them to talk more.

This will give you in-hand data more than market research.

Once you know their reasons, follow this technique 👇

4. Make them say, “That’s Right”

Put your facts in a way that makes them nod.

This helps them align with your thinking.

It doesn’t need to be work-related.

Even if they agree to general stats, it’ll release the tension in the room.
