Lack of support from admin –Teachers felt admin was continuing asking more from them without giving anything back. Teacher felt that it was often upper management rather than middle management who were to blame.

Excessive documentation – Teachers felt that they spent more time writing things to please anonymous awarding bodies than they were planning for lessons and doing student feedback.

Poor mental health support – This appeared more during and after covid when teachers became aware of who was there and who was not for them. Covid greatly impacted teachers and stretched many of them into delivering lessons in ways they were not trained or prepared for.

Student abuse – This can take many forms such as false accusations, threats to attack teachers, demands for grades to be changed, damaging personal property and so on.

Change careers more often – More than ever people are likely to change careers and teachers have many transferable skills and are realising that companies are seeking them.

Better money in other careers – With their transferable skills, teachers are able to earn money for doing less.

Lack of compensation – Over worked and underpaid, many teachers are no longer prepared to do extra free β€œfor the kids”

Toxic cultures in schools – This is a big one, which often comes from poor and/or inexperienced leadership as well as a failure to change.
