Intro to Sharing on Reddit
Why Reddit?:
Reddit is a text-based platform that has similar audiences to Memo’d.
Many of these users are there to explore interesting topics, discover new ideas and share their thoughts - just like on Memo’d. Reddit also tends to have more readers of longer form content.

Below are tips for:
1) Creating and maintaining a successful Reddit account
2) Sharing Memos on Reddit

Profile: Reddit is a platform built on trust. Trust is measured with “karma”. Karma is like Reddit currency. It allows you to do things like post, comment and more. When you create a brand new Reddit account you have 0 karma points.

Karma: There are many subreddits (communities or groups) that you cannot post in at all until you have built up karma over time. It's better to have an old account you never used from years ago than create a new account and start all over with karma.

Your profile cannot be Memo’d-focused. This is critical. If your username, profile, bio, posts and comments all reference Memo’d, you may lose your account altogether. Showing yourself as a real person and not an advertising machine is critical.

Sharing Memos on Reddit with comments: Posting comments are a great way to build karma and a lower risk way of sharing Memos. Comments don’t tend to get as many views, likes, replies, etc. But they are also less likely to get you banned from a subreddit or break any rules.

Do not mention the Memo’d platform: Be sure to switch it up and have no more than 50% of your comments include links to a Memo. In general, people don’t care about Memo’d, the app or the platform. Content is king. Insights, ideas or wisdom is what people want, so just give that.

Post Strategy: Each subreddit has its own rules (you can see them in the admin section of each subreddit) and they may vary widely. Typically the more people following the subreddit, the more rules and regulations.

Before you post, read every rule. Many groups do not allow posting links at all - in comments or posts. Other groups may have rules requiring flair (topic tags), not allowing certain types of posts (like advice or talking about certain topics, etc.).

It's critical that you know what you are posting to each group. It’s rare that I have a post that works 100% identically in 2 different subreddits. They almost always need customizing. Conversation should be the goal. The link to a Memo should feel like an afterthought.
