Scythians were an Indo-European nomadic population of Iranian stock attested in the Eurasian steppe from 19th Century BC to 4th Century CE.

Scythians were among the first to master the use of cavalry in warfare: they raised herds of horses and herds, lived in tents mounted on chariots and fought armed with bows and arrows from their saddles.

They developed a rich culture characterized by opulent burials, fine metallurgy, and a brilliant artistic style.
