India- the “emerged” superpower

In a world of global unrest & tumultuous times, India seems to be what IMF has described as a “bright spot”. IMF has predicted a growth projection on global level and for India at 3% & 6.3% respectively for FY 2024-25. World Bank too has been optimistic about Indian economy.

A post covid world has made businesses realize that democratic & economically stable India is an alternative to authoritative & economically troubled China. Apple, amongst others, is looking to cut its reliance on China and make India its global manufacturing hub by 2025.

Not only is India a job-seekers’ hub but is also now creating jobs in other nations. Recently Air India- India’s national carrier placed an order of 220 planes with Boeing which will create over a million jobs in the US. This is US’ third biggest sale ever in terms of value.

India’s philanthropic success story made it the “big brother” that third world nations needed when it supplied over 10 million COVID vaccines for free under Vaccine Maitri initiative. It was the friend the Western world needed when HCQ was hailed as a cure for COVID-19. 

India extended its generosity to a not-so-friendly Turkey & sanction hit Syria after the devastating earthquake in 2023. India was one of the first countries to offer help. India sent relief materials, medical supplies & squads for rescue operations under Operation Dost.

Powerful economy & unmatched benevolence has made India & its leaders stand-out. World leaders are looking up to Indian PM, Narendra Modi to resolve Russo-Ukraine crisis despite India being one of the few nations that has not openly taken any side in the war- except its own.

Following its independent & bold stance in Russo-Ukraine conflict, India is now becoming the face of Global South which is united by their struggle to secure cheap oil. India is using its G20, G7 & Quad membership to represent interests of Global South.

India is world’s most populous country, yet India’s commitment towards utilization of alternate sources of power to cater to an ever-rising demand has been exemplary. India has added over 100 GW of renewable energy capacity by end of 2021 & aims to achieve 500 GW by 2030. 

Indian PM has consistently secured the highest approval ratings amongst all world leaders. The support he enjoys from his people is a testament to the stability his government has achieved & is indicative of his victory in 2024 elections giving his government a third term.

Stable & successful India is a friend of all & enemy to none. It truly believes in- “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”- the world is one family. In an era of cooperation & mutual reliance, India is successfully bringing together everyone like the glue that holds family together.
