The story of Postman’s journey began in 2012 when the three were yet to officially launch the company. It wasn’t until 2014 that Postman would be formally founded.

Back then, Abhinav was working as an intern for Yahoo where he met his future co-founder, Ankit. However, sometime later, Abhinav and Ankit founded TeliportMe, a venture that introduced them to the third co-founder, Abhijit.

During their journey at TeliportMe, they had to deal with problems while dealing with APIs (application programming interfaces). Even simple APIs and responses would result in tedious processes and when the API would be updated, they would have to start all over again.

API testing refers to software testing that tests application interfaces to determine if they are working correctly on the factors of functionality, reliability, performance, and security.

So when they found a gap in API solutions, they decided to take the matter into their own hands and wrote the codes for the APIs themselves.

After which, they uploaded the code to the Chrome Web Store. What had started as a fun side project, turned into a solution for over half a million users!
