Founded in 2014 by Abhiraj Bhal, Varun Khaitan, and Raghav Chandra, Urban Company began its journey as Urban Clap. The startup was created to establish an enhanced connection between customers and verified & skilled service professionals.

Co-founders, Varun and Abhiraj are both IIT-Kanpur alumni who completed their B.Tech in Electrical Engineering. Whereas, Raghav has studied BS in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
