In the 1990's and early 2000's, Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company were credited with numerous TV shows on various networks and major films. This all came to a screeching halt when sexual assault accusations against Weinstein began pouring in. Here's how it unfolded:

Oct 5, 2017 - The NY Times published the first major story describing how Weinstein leveraged his position of power for decades to sexually abuse women he worked with. 2 actresses - Rose McGowan and Ashley Judd along with many other women testified against him.

October 10, 2017 - The New Yorker reports 13 more women's stories accusing Weinstein of rape and other sexual misconduct. More notable actresses - Mira Sorvino, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie all accused him of sexual harassment including him promising career success for sex.

October 15, 2017 - The Metropolitan Police in the UK investigate cases for 3 women accusing Weinstein of sexual assault in the late 1980's and throughout the early 2000's. More celebrities come forward including Lupita Nyongo who says she was lured into his bedroom as a student.

May 25, 2018 - NYPD report Weinstein turned himself in for sexual misconduct charges. Dozens more allegations have come in - from Weinstein's former staff, actresses and more, but he maintains that all allegations of non-consensual sexual acts are false.

May 31, 2018 - Weinstein is charged by a grand jury in New York of rape and a criminal sexual act regarding unnamed women in 2013 and one in 2004. He pleads not guilty. He tries to have the criminal case dismissed using "warm emails" from an accuser after the alleged rape.

May 24, 2019 - Weinstein and board members propose a tentative settlement of $44m to resolve civil lawsuits with the women accusing Weinstein of sexual misconduct. It ends up being roughly $25m to nearly 30 actresses and former employees.

January 22, 2020 - The NY trial begins for allegations by 3 women against Weinstein. Sopranos actress Annabella Sciorra testifies that Weinstein forced himself into her home and raped her. 3 of the 5 charges relate to actress Jessica Mann. She testifies of a similar encounter.

February 24, 2020 - After deliberating for 5 days the jury finds Weinstein guilty of sexual assault. He is convicted for crimes against his former production assistant Mimi Haleyi and actress Jesica Mann. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and assault.

December 20, 2022 - Weinstein is extradited to California to face 11 additional sexual assault charges by 5 victims. He is found guilty and sentenced to 16 additional years in prison.
